On February 11th, Gabrielle and I set foot in Laos. From Chiang Rai, Thailand, we said our good byes to our travel tour crews and headed to the lao border. There, we boarded the famous (or infamous, depends how you see it!) slow long tail to the town of Luang Prabang. The trip down the mighty Mekong river was filled with National Geographic landscapes and the fourteen hour ride was relaxing, although with too many impatient tourists (!)
The small town of Luang Prabang has an unmistakable Asian-French charm; the architecture, the cafes, the food, and the occasional local who speaks French. Between my visit of the gorgeous Kuang Si waterfalls, the leisurely morning drinking tasty Lao coffee and the Lao cooking class, I truly enjoyed my time there and look forward going back.
Gabrielle and I have now made our way south to the little village of Vang Vieng. Our arrival is only recent. Therefore, except enjoying the absolutely stunning scenery, hydrating on some tasty Beer Lao, and soaking up on the relax Vang Vieng atmosphere, we haven't done much yet!

ReplyDeleteIndeed, tes photos sont tellement pleines de couleurs et les paysages sont écoeurants! Maman m'a parlé de ta rencontre avec M.Cousteau...C'est malade! C'est vraiment ce qu'on appelle être à la bonne place au bon moment! Ton voyage a l'air tellement intéressant, je raconte tes histoires à tous mes amis ahah! De mon côté, je suis tombé en relâche hier! J'suis vraiment content, mais le seul "hic" c'est que j'ai 2 gros examen la semaine d'après loll... J'imagine que c'est ce qu'ils veulent dire par "reading week"...
