It is somewhere between the Kantchanaburi and Authaya province. It is called Baan Klang Tung, the "home in the middle of the fields". It is my idea of paradise.
After three nights spent in the city and large touristy resorts, I was glad to find what I consider to be a bit more of an authentic thai guesthouse. The place is absolutely gorgeous; open air tropical style (my bathroom is open to the sky!), the rooms are all clean, furniture in antique nice wood, there are lots of windows for a 360 view of the surrounding countryside, lots of plants and trees (which I, off course, love), it has that little community vibe I like, and it is oh so relaxing and quiet.
During my stay at the Baan Llang Tung Guesthouse, not only was I completely at peace, but also felt like I was experiencing a little bit of the real and simple thai way of life. Way before down on the morning of February 3rd, my tour guide, Gabrielle, and I jumped on our rented bikes to wonder the town in the search of food to offer to the monks, because in a typical thai budhist region, people do not eat breakfast until offering is made to the monks. Curries, sweets, fruits, and flowers were therefore purchased and later offered to the nearest temple. As the sun was rising, here we were, sitting on a mat in a temple, at 7:00 in the morning, chit chatting with the head monk about spirituality and countryside thai life.
And it continues! Since then, I have done so many activities with the travel tour that keeping track of everything in my journal is imperative. School visits, museum tours, market shopping, temple and ruins visit, and cooking classes (just finished one; I'm full and happy! See photos). So many more tales of discovery to come!
